Small Modular Reactors – Supply Chain Challenges and Industry Opportunities

The optimism surrounding the development of Small Modular Reactors depends entirely upon the development of new manufacturing supply chains. These will demand that systems be produced to the very highest level of quality assurance in a factory setting. The goal is to deliver “plug and play” small energy production plants that are similar to the delivery of diesel gensets. The challenges also include fuel delivery and subsequent refuelling. The opportunity is massive for industry and the possible benefits to energy production are significant.

Mr. Voss is the President of the Terra Verde Group of Companies established in 1999. The Group includes manufacturing in the UK, renewable energy production in the United States, financial and engineering advisory services, recycling in Perth, and metallurgical technology development also in Perth. Mr. Voss received his BSc and MSc in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Arizona. He has worked throughout the world in challenging engineering, environmental and energy undertakings. He is presently advising multiple Asian governments in their clean energy transitions.

James is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Engineers. He was elected as a Fellow of Engineers Australia. He is a Chartered Engineer in the UK and a European Engineer charted by the European Union. He is a member of the Royal Order of Saint John of Jerusalem and a Director of the Mount Eliza (Victoria) Rotary Club.
