Toolmaker by Trade ( mostly Jigs and Fixtures )
Post apprenticeship moved to Mechanical Service Engineer for Hydraulic Pressbrake and Guillotine ( Pearson Machine Tool Co) installing and servicing machinery throughout Australia and South East Asia.
At the start of NC Lathes & Machining Centres moved to John Hart ( Mazak distributor ) as a Mechanical Service Engineer moving into Sales, Branch Manager NSW, National Sales Manager over 20+ years.
20 years ago left John Hart and joined Okuma Australia as National Sales Manager moving to General Manager and 3 years ago took on Managing Director role for Okuma Australia and New Zealand.
Oded VanHam, Client Engagement Facilitator @ Australian National Fabrication Facility
Oded VanHam has spent more than 20 years in the intersection of science and business; he’s earned Master’s degrees in both Science and Business. He has worked in in Canada, China, and Australia with biotech start-ups, large research programmes, industry consultancies and in a number of business development roles.
Oded is a Client Engagement Facilitator at the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF). He is responsible for assisting industry and researchers in developing and commercialising technologies by connecting them with ANFF’s cutting edge facilities and expertise.

Dr Ashley Dyer, Process Engineer @ Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication
Ashley Dyer is a Process Engineer at the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication (MCN), a cleanroom lab facility that makes up part of the Victorian node of the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF).
Ash has a background in mechanical testing and the characterisation of strategic metals for gas turbine applications. Formally studying with Swansea University UK sponsored by Rolls-Royce PLC, Ash completed an EngD in the effect of Thermomechanical Fatigue on Titanium Metal Matrix Composites (TiMMCs).
Ash now works as part of the thin film deposition and packaging team at MCN. Focussed on electron beam evaporation, wirebonding and thermal processing.
Oded VanHam and Ash Dyer will provide a brief background of the ANFF, describe its capabilities, and provide examples of innovations facilitated by ANFF. They will explain how companies can engage with the ANFF and benefit from a half-a-billion-dollar investment in advanced manufacturing capabilities made by Commonwealth and State Governments, as well as partner organisations.
