Tom Harris – The Design Technology Company

After finishing his Monash University Mechanical Engineering degree, Tom commenced his career under Phil Xuereb at Sutton Tools. This is where he quickly developed a love of product design and production.

His career then navigated through designing and developing products in healthcare, materials handling and machine tools. Understanding production capabilities and limitations have enabled him to design at the limit of possibility.

In 2013 Tom co-founded Ferroustek Group, a structural steel fabrication business. This was an opportunity to develop his own business design and production practices, along with building and managing a cohesive team and executing the strategic plan.

Tom is currently General Manager of The Design Technology Company (DTCo). His role has developed the traditional skills of design and drafting to leverage the latest technologies. His extensive background in product development, manufacturing and design has established a more structured approach to the latest design workflows.

Over the course of Tom’s career, his pragmatic approach to delivering sustainable change for continuous improvement has delivered strong results in many industries. Technology advancements have unlocked a more immersive approach to design reviews and DTCo has introduced this to their clients with great success.
